A few days ago while on the LIKE MINDS show with Ova Skillz, I said that some artistes receive Hit songs from God but they kill it because they lack certain knowledge that’s vital to song writing.
In song writing, knowledge is key. Anybody can write song, in fact almost every artiste now is a song writer and truly there’s no big deal in writing a song but there is a big deal in writing songs that command influence and transcend generations.
Writing a song that commands influence and transcends generations is not an all comers affair. It is not something that happens by chance or by luck. In fact the chances of that happening is 1/100000000000000000000. You can do the math. This kinds of songs are birthed as a product of knowledge. Yes knowledge! I know you want me to spiritualize it and say it is birthed in a place of prayer and deep intimacy with God.. Lol.. Sorry to disappoint you..
I have received way too many great songs from God to know that creating or writing a hit song doesn’t happen in the place of prayer. It is a product of knowledge. We receive songs in the place of prayer but we don’t write and finish the songs in that place of prayer. Sometimes it takes a year of writing and re writing to finally get the songs ready to be released to the world. In those period of writing and rewriting, knowledge is deeply at work and how much you know about song writing will determine how the song come out; a hit or just another song.
May I humbly inform you that most of the songs you hear or see released everyday were received directly from God? Oftentimes in the place of prayer and intimacy just as you like it.. Lol. But most of them never become a Hit. Now it is easy for some of you to want to justify your error with religious talks like every song must not be a hit or that the song may be given to pass a message to certain people and as long as the messages are passed to those its meant for, the purpose of the song is done. Let me humbly inform you that your argument is a stale joke. It is not funny at all.
How do you know that particular song you received was not meant to be a Hit song? How do you also know those the message of the song is for and when they have gotten the message? You see how lame your excuses are? Since you have no idea or can not determine those parameters, is it not better you do everything needed to make the song a hit, that way, those the message is for and those it’s not for will get to hear the message?
You know, there are some of you who think that making effort to write a Hit song means that the song lacks spirituality, may i humbly inform you that your knowldege of spirituality is badly damaged?. That a song is a hit doesn’t mean the song is less spiritual or that wanting to write or create a hit song doesn’t mean you are carnal or in pursuit of fame. No! As a matter of fact, some of the hit songs you term highly annointed and spiritual, do you know how it was created? Do you know the amount of work and knowledge invested in them to make them get to you?
That God gave you a song straight from heaven doesn’t mean the song will eventually blow and become a transgenerational hit. However, let me say that every received song has the Potential to be a hit but potentials must be properly harnessed to full maturity and in other to do that, you need specific and accurate knowledge.
For song writing, you need to understand concepts and conceptualization, you need knowledge of emotion and how to communicate emotions using words. The knowledge of concepts and conceptualization helps you to understand the exact accurate message God wants you to pass in that song and the knowledge of emotion helps you to know the right words that can communicate the emotion of the message.
Some of you have killed your potential Hit songs because you lack this knowledge.
