SARS: IGP Ban Nigeria FSARS And Other Tactical Squads From Routine Patrols In Nigeria.
Nigeria Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ban staff of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) including other tactical squads force from their routine patrol with instant result.
Mohammed Adamu give this order after investigation of which he revealed that some of their staff hides under authority to indulge in all kinds of illegal things which is against the Standard Operation Procedures, Code of Conduct and Rule of Engagement which the squads is expected to abide.
The tactical squads include the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Anti-Cultism Squad and other Tactical Squads operating at the Federal, Zonal and Command levels.
Adamu order the X-squad and the monitoring unit to nationwide monitor the activities of the tactical squads with other police officers.
Henceforth, tactical squads no long have the right to stop and search duties, checkpoints, mounting of roadblocks, traffic checks, and so on.
Also, a police officer is not allowed to wear plainclothes to go on patrol or any tactical assignment of which they are meant to be on police uniform or tactical gear already approved.
Above all, inspector general of police issued a warning to the tactical squads to stop harassing and intruding the privacy of the people in the country especially through unnecessary searching of mobile phones, laptops and other smart device.
Moreover, the tactic squad work is to concentrate on cases of armed robbery, kidnapping and other violent crime in the country.
Adamu says, even though FSARS and other police tactical squads are very important member of the police force to fight violent crimes for the country, He also condemns unprofessional behaviour, human right abuse, mishandle of the country people by some of the officers of the squads.
