Junaid Mohammed Former Republic Lawmaker Dies Age 71.
Former Republic lawmaker, Junaid Mohammed, who died at the age of 71 broke the hearts of many as the Former vice President, Atiku Abubakar, mourns his exit.
An eldest son to the desease, Sulaimon Junaid Mohammad confirmed his father died at his residence in Kano on Thursday night after a brief illness.
He will be buried Friday morning at Farm center Cementry in Turaini, a family source said.
Atiku who wrote on his official Twitter handle to express his grief described Mohammed as an activist of democracy and human rights.
He also prayed to God to console the family of the deceased and accept his soul into the Garden of Bliss.
“The news of the death of Dr Junaid Mohammed is shocking. He was a worthy compatriot, and it is most fitting to describe him as an activist of democracy and human rights.
“His memories shall remain in the light of the values he stood for. May Allah console his family and friends and accept his soul into the Garden of Bliss. Amin,” he tweeted.
Mohammed was a founding member of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in 1976 led the late Aminu Kano and served as the National Deputy Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the North-West.
In 2018, Donald Duke, presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), picked him as his running mate for the 2019 election.
