The Kano State College of Nursing and Midwifery have been caught up by fire leaving not less than 16 rooms of the students’ hostel affected.
It was gathered that the fire started from a toilet during the Muslim evening prayer at around 6.20 pm on Wednesday, on the third floor of Sa’idu Fagge hostel.
A source at the college told The PUNCH that the fire raged for over one hour before the arrival of the Kano Fire servicemen.
When contacted, the spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Sai’du Muhammad, confirmed the incident.
He said investigation had commenced with a view to finding out the cause of the fire and extent of the damage.
