BREAKING: Reps Condemn British Parliament’s Position On #EndSARS, Allegation Against Gowon.
The House of Representatives on Tuesday, has criticised the British House of Commons over its recent deliberation on the #EndSARS protests during which a former Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon, was accused of looting the Central Bank of Nigeria.
On Tuesday, right at the plenary, in the House while exonerating Gowon, faulted the allegation by the British lawmakers as baseless.
Accordingly, The House has set to bear its grievances to the House of Commons and challenge the parliament to provide proof or apologise to Nigeria.
Members of the United Kingdom Parliament had on Monday last week taken turns to blast the regime of the President, Muhammadu Buhari for the attack and menacings of protesters who participated in the #EndSARS demonstrations.
They demanded sanctions on government officials such as visa ban, freezing of assets, and stopping the funding and training for the Nigeria Police Force.
The debate followed a petition started by Silas Ojo which had reached over 200,000 signatures.
