Bah Ndaw: Mali’s Civilian Interim President To Be Sworn In After Coup.
Mali’s New Interim President, Bah Ndaw will be sworn into office on Friday, five weeks following the overthrow of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta after coup.
President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta was overthrown on 18 August following a mass protests against his rule over corruption, the mismanagement of the economy and a dispute over legislative elections.
The Former Defense Minister,Bah Ndaw, was selected by the coup leader, Colonel Assimi Goita, to lead an existing government until elections are conducted.
The new government is expected to be in office for a existing period of 18 months that will lead to an election.
The appointment of a civilian president is to lift the sanctions it imposed after the coup for the West African regional group, Ecowas.
His vice-president will be Col Goita.
