Ahmed Gulak killed By Gunmen In Owerri, Imo State.
The former Special Adviser to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, was killed by unknown gunmen in Owerri, Imo State Capital.
It was gathered that Gulak was killed at Obiangwu along Aba-Owerri road on his way to the airport apparently to board a flight to Abuja on Sunday morning.
Imo State police command spokesman Bala Elkana said Gulak was on his way to Sam Mbakwe Airport to catch a flight when unknown armed gunmen stopped and attacked a Toyota Camry in which he and two others were travelling.
“Ahmed Gulak left his room at Protea Hotel without informing the Police nor sister agencies in view of the fragile security situation in the South East and Imo in particular,” Elkana said.
“He left without any security escorts and while the cab driver took irregular route to the airport, six-armed bandits who rode in a Toyota Sienna intercepted, identified and shot at Ahmed Gulak at around Umueze Obiangwu in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area close to the Airport.”
Elkana said a discreet investigation into the matter will be carried out and that tactical and special forces have been deployed to cordon the area and arrest perpetrators.
